Screening of the film Can You Hear My Voice
In 2020, the film Can You Hear My Voice was premiered in London. It was directed by Bill Brummel, an American filmmaker who had a laryngectomy in 2016.
It tells the story of the laryngectomy journey through the experiences of members of the Shout at Cancer laryngectomy choir.
Earlier this month the Oldham Quiet Ones organised the first screening of the film outside of London. They had support from ATOS, who sponsored the production of the film, Oldham council and Gallery Oldham.
The event deservedly saw a great turnout and the audience found the film emotional and inspiring. Hopefully others will follow the Quiet Ones’ example and the film will be seen around the country.
