NALC was very sorry to learn that Bob Wingrove, Secretary of the Oxford Club, passed away early in January. The club shared this tribute
It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of our Secretary, Robert Wingrove, known to all as “Bob”.
Bob was so much more to the club than just our secretary. He was always willing to help and advise everyone, despite his own health issues, especially new laryngectomees that he met at the Churchill Hospital.
Bob will be greatly missed by the club and all that knew him.
Rest in Peace Bob!
Bob made a massive contribution to the NALC committee, up until the arrival of Covid. The individual support he gave to Sir Adrian Swire was exceptional, and of great benefit to NALC.
Bob faced challenging prognoses for many years but faced his situation with courage and determination. He always researched treatment options, feeling decisions should be taken by clinicians in partnership with the patient.
His contribution to laryngectomee support will not be forgotten.
